Ivanovski at the 'Mobile World Congress 2015' in Barcelona

Minister of Information Society and Administration, Ivo Ivanovski, participated in the 'Mobile World Congress 2015' - Barcelona, Spain, which was held between the 2nd and 5th of March. Minister addressed at the panel-session "Consumer outcomes from mobile sector competition".


Participants discussed about migration of mobile operators in Europe. With 97 mobile operators and 505 million EU citizens, the chances for mobile merging and migration are increasing. The merger’s effects and the impact on quality services and prices were also topics of discussion. Best practices have shown that if the conditions for mobile migration are good, the prices would go down.


The main theme of the 2015 GSMA Ministerial Programme - 'Stimulating Innovation for the Fully Connected Society', emphasized the innovative core of the mobile sector and the policy and regulatory enablers that allow mobile technologies and services to thrive. The participants had an opportunity to exchange experiences and views about market competition in the mobile industry and the implications for consumers innovation and investments. Moreover, the participants shared their experiences in the areas of e-Government and digital inclusion.


Minister Ivanovski had meetings with government officials and international ICT sector representatives. The 'Mobile World Congress 2015' in Barcelona was organized by GSMA-Group Special Mobile Association which represents the interests of mobile operators and mobile and software companies worldwide.
