Skopje, October 14th 2010

By 2012, 2 million new working positions in Europe will be opened, which will be dealing with broadband internet. In this way, gross domestic product in the region will grow by 610 billion euros. These are part of European Commission economic predictions, announced on the 8th ICT MASIT annual conference.

- The data derived are positive, form the impact they have on economy. According to World Bank report, the infrastructure will be improved by 10% and citizens will have access to broadband internet. The gross domestic product of that economy will be 0.3% to 1.3%, depending on states’ development, says Minister of information society Ivo Ivanovski.

The business community salutes the Government’s efforts for improving information infrastructure in the country.

- The Government works on projects that put the country on the right way. It is true that results come later, but they will be positive. We, as a business community are always optimists and we always want to give the best from ourselves in competing with world ranked companies and states, says Goran Mitrevski, MASIT President.

The Government ordered the Agency of electronic communication to allow releasing analog frequencies from national televisions as soon as possible. After introducing digital television, those frequencies will be used for broadband internet. The process should be completed by 2012.
