NOKIA opens a center for mobile application development in Macedonia

Within his visit to Helsinki, Finland, the Minister of information society and administration Ivo Ivanovski MA met today with representatives of the Nokia company.

 

Minister Ivanovski and the Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to Finland, Kire Ilioski, visited the Nokia company and met with the Vice-President Erki Ormala, where they introduced possibilities that the Republic of Macedonia offers to foreign investors.

 

At the meeting with the Nokia representatives they officially agreed to open a regional center for mobile application development in the Republic of Macedonia, a unique of this type in the wider region, that would have a direct cooperation with the Faculty of Information Sciences and Computer Engineering – FINKI.

 

The center opening is planned for the beginning of June 2012.

 

The initiative for opening this kind of development center stemmed recently from the Ministry of Information Society and Administration and the local office of Microsoft in Macedonia.

 

The cooperation of Nokia with the FINKI and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia is of a particular importance, and it will provide conditions for designing modern applications for the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and wider in the region. It is also of a great importance to the domestic IT industry and gives it possibility for closer cooperation with NOKIA, the world known mobile telephone producer.

 

During today’s visit to Finland, Minister Ivanovski also met with Ms. Henna Virkkunen, Minister of Public Administration and Local Government of Finland.
