The World Prize for Telecommunications and Information Society has been Awarded

Geneva, May 16th, 2012 

Today, at 11 o’ clock, Marta Arsovska Tomovska, Deputy Minister on Information Society and Administration attended the presentation of the World Prize for Telecommunications and Information Society.

The ceremony took place in the seat of the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) in Geneva, in the frameworks of the World Summit for Information Society, Forum 2012.

ITU is a specialized agency within the United Nations and this year on May 17th, marked the 147 anniversary of its establishment.

 

Taking into consideration that this year’s theme is focused on “the Women and Girls in Information-Communications Technologies (ICT)” awards were presented to three eminent personalities who contributed in digital revolution in information-communications technologies and who with their leadership and dedication, enabled ICT to become mean for strengthening of the position of the women and girls throughout the world.

 

The award winners are Hi.Ei. Cristina Fernandez de Kircheer, president of Argentina, Mrs. San Jafang, president of the Whoaway Company and the Hollywood star and Oscar winner Geena Davis.
