Closing conference of the Twinning project 'Support to the Civil Service and Public Administration Reform'

Skopje, 16th of December 2015

Minister of Information Society and Administration Marta Arsovska Tomovska addressed at the closing conference of the twinning project 'Support to the Public Service and Public Administration Reform. The purpose of this twinning project was to develop and implement a mechanism to connect all existing and future processes, systems and information in the public administration.

"It was a very successful project implemented by the Ministry of Information Society and Administration and The Austrian Agency for Economic Cooperation and Development (AED). It represents a significant contribution to further improving the quality of administrative services for citizens and businesses, as well as to the development of E-Government tools", Arsovska Tomovska said. She thanked the European Union for financing the project under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA). This project consisted of two main components: Compendium of interoperability and recommendations for the future population Register.

"Provided the data are good and of high quality, population Register could replace the traditional census in the future, as is the case in some European countries. Population Registers are unique and differ from one country to another thus providing basis not only for an efficient public service, but also for the preparation of election voters list, census and demographic statistics ".

Experts from Austria and representatives of the MISA were involved in the practical implementation of this twinning project, as well as representatives of agencies and other ministries and public institutions. The closing conference was also attended by the Head of the Delegation of the European Union Aivo Orav and Christian Rupp, Federal Chancellery of Austria.
