Arsovska Tomovska at the Inauguration of IPA 2011 Grants for Civil Society

Minister of Information Society and Administration Marta addressed at the event ’Further development and financial sustainability of the Civil Society’, project for the promotion of assistance under IPA Component I – TAIB 2011.

 

”Through this grant scheme funded by the European Union, 1.5 million euro will be invested directly in non-governmental organizations for the strengthening of civil society. Through these projects, the civil sector will work on strengthening Macedonian society, and contribute to further strengthening of democracy and economy”, Arsovska Tomovska said.

 

At the event, organized by the General Secretariat of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and Delegation of the European Union, grant contracts were awarded to 12 NGOs.

 

Arsovska Tomovska emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Macedonia has undertaken number of reforms in recent years to improve good governance, accelerate economic development and empowerment of citizens: Strategies for Cooperation of the Government with the Civil Sector 2007-2011and 2012-2017 were adopted; A Code of Good Practices for Financial support to Citizen's Association and Foundations was adopted; the legal system was transformed to ensure availability of draft laws on Ministries web sites; the Unique National Electronic Registry of Regulations (ENER) was upgraded, etc. The head of Delegation of the European Union, Aivo Orav also spoke at the event.
