The 27th State Competition in Informatics

Minister of Information Society and Administration Marta Arsovska Tomovska has officially opened the 27th State Competition in informatics for primary and high school students in the Republic of Macedonia. The participants in this competition are the best 100 students selected from regional competitions in programming.


Arsovska Tomovska pointed out that these competitions are important for encouraging young people to build their careers in the information area, adding that the demand for such cadres within companies has significantly increased in recent years.


"The Government has set a priority to support gifted children so they can be identified from earliest age, and to provide an appropriate environment for the development of their potential, in order to double-triple the number of student enrolment at the faculties of informatics and also to ensure their employment in foreign and domestic companies in our country”, Arsovska Tomovska said. In this respect, she underlined the introducing of a new subject 'Working with computers and basic programming' in the third year of primary school.


"This is the highest quality state competition, if we judge by the awards and medals won, including the international competitions in Informatics”, Arsovska Tomovska said.


The State Competition in Informatics is organized by the Association of Information Technology of Macedonia, co organized by the Agency for Youth and Sports of the Republic Macedonia and is held at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering.
